The Washington boys soccer team travels to Iowa City Liberty Monday in search of their first win of the season.

The Demons dropped their opener on Thursday at Highland by a 3-2 score. Washington was led in the match by Fabian DeJesus and David Rees each with one goal, Garrett Ikerd and Caleb Suchan each with one assist and Ben Baughman with 15 saves in goal.

This is the season opener for the Liberty Lightning. Last year they finished with a 10-7 mark. They return everyone from last season as the roster was predominately freshmen and sophomores with one junior. This included their leading scorer Ayi Ajavon who finished his sophomore  year with 19 goals and 13 assists. His 19 goals were seventh in class 2A a season ago, his 13 assists, third. Liberty also returns AJ Meyer in goal who spent 740 minutes on the back line. These two teams met a season ago with the Lightning taking a 3-0 win. Action begins tonight at 6:45 at Iowa City Liberty High School.
