Williamsburg High School is hosting their annual girls Raider Relays Tuesday with four KCII area teams competing.
The Washington Demons, Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks, WACO Warriors, and Iowa Mennonite girls will all be in action.
Last time the Demon girls were on the track was Thursday at Mount Pleasant. Top finishes for Washington at the meet included a runner-up for Jenah Greiner in the long jump, second for the 4×200 team of Leah Marek, Isabell Bailey, Ashley Telleen and Greiner. Greiner was also fourth in the 100 and Bailey fourth in the long jump. This week, Washington head girls track coach Stephanie Haworth talked about the meet. “They changed the Williamsburg meet so that the boys are on one day and girls are on the other. That means we don’t get as much recovery time with just a girls only meet. So it changes things a little bit for us. We are going to just try a couple of events and try to run some fast times.”
The Mid-Prairie girls were last in action at Mount Pleasant. The Golden Hawks had four event champions Thursday with Amber Swart taking the 100m dash, Marie Hostetler the 1500, Tori Boyse winning the discus and the Golden Hawk 4×800 team of Mitzi, Abbagail, and Angelina Evans and Marie Hostetler taking home gold.
This will be the first outdoor meet of the season from the Iowa Mennonite girls. They were at the Central College High School Indoor Meet last time out. IMS was led by Leah Bontrager and her seventh place finish in the 800. She was also 48th in the 400. Suzanna Yoder was eighth in the 400, ninth in the 200 and 18th in the 60m dash.
WACO last competed at the Falcon Relays at West Burlington a week ago. The Warriors had three event champions on the night with Grace Conwell taking gold in the long jump and 400 hurdles. The Warrior shuttle hurdle relay of Laney Graber, Taylor Sammons, Maggie Rinner and Conwell were also winners.
Joining those four teams in Williamsburg will be Belle Plaine, Benton, Grinnell, Mount Vernon, Solon and the Raiders. Action begins at 4:30 and continues into the evening at Williamsburg High School.
