The Iowa Mennonite School soccer team kicks off their season Tuesday when they host the Columbus Winfield-Mt. Union Wildcats in a Superconference match.

Columbus opened the season with a 4-1 loss on Monday against Mount Pleasant. This will be the first official match of the season for IMS. They scrimmaged Ft. Madison during the preseason. Iowa Mennonite was 18-2 a season ago, earning their first state tournament bid since 2000. IMS returns two of their top four leading scorers from last year including Louis Etienne who was tops on the team and ninth in class 1A with 17 goals. Jacob Boller also returns as the team leader in assists from last year with 11, 10th in 1A. In goal, Blake Bontrager returns for his senior season after a year that saw him spend more than 1,400 minutes in goal and make 77 stops for an 82% save percentage allowing less than one goal per game. These two teams met once last season with IMS taking a 2-1 road win. Action begins tonight at 5p.m. at Iowa Mennonite School.
