Community members can help local kids get a better night’s sleep by contributing to the Sweet Dreams Project. The WAYS group is raising money to get beds, mattresses, and bedding for youth in Washington. Jill Lukavsky with WAYS says there is a need, as some children are sleeping on the floor or air mattresses, “And if they’re school-age children then not being able to sleep well at night, or knowing if you’re going to have to sleep on a hard floor, really makes a difference when you can concentrate at school or not.”

WAYS stands for Washington Area Youth Supporters and is the former Noon Optimist Club, but they decided to become a local group so that the state and international club fees could be used to help projects in the community. To raise funds, there is a wine and craft beer raffle with over $600 in prizes. Tickets can be purchased for $10 or three for $25 from WAYS members or by messaging their Facebook page. Lukavsky says they are working with HACAP to get the beds to about six children.
