ims-3

The No. 5 Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team started the season Tuesday with an impressive win at home, blanking the Columbus Wildcats 4-0 in Southeast Iowa Superconference action.

IMS got on the board with a Louis Etienne goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead, they would double that lead with a Jacob Boller goal to go up 2-0 into the break. In the second half Etienne added two more tallies to complete the hat trick. After the match, IMS head coach Marcus Miller talked about Etienne as a weapon. “It helps to have a kid like Louis up top, with his speed. I think they had two or three guys on him at certain times and that opens up other guys. I’m glad I don’t have to play against him.”

Blake Bontrager turned in a clean sheet for IMS, making five saves. Cody Jones had a pair of assists, Etienne and Toby Chen each had one. With the win, IMS is now 1-0 on the year as they get ready to take on Highland Thursday.
