Chalk up a win for the Washington soccer teams in the Southeast Conference, as both the boys and girls opened the conference with a victory.
The boys welcomed Keokuk for the home opener and the Demons had the upper hand in a 1-0 defensive battle. Zac Stout had the lone goal of the evening in the 53rdminute off of a pass from Pascual Mendoza and Ben Baughman had 10 saves to preserve the win. The Demons improve to 1-2 on the young season.
There was no shortage of offense for the Demon girls, as they dispatched the Chiefs 6-1 on the road. Trina Griffin had herself a night finding the back of the net four times. Halle Leyden and Greta Roth rounded out the scoring for the 1-1 Demons. Both Washington teams get back on the pitch tomorrow hosting Mediapolis in the lone girl/boy doubleheader of the year.
