The Washington track teams headlined area squads last night in the annual Demon Co-Ed Relays.

The Demon boys’ had a solid showing finishing runner-up with 125 points behind Mount Pleasant’s 212. Mitchell Driscoll took home top honors in the 400m dash with a time of 52.07 seconds. The sprint medley relay team of Cade Hennigan, Jacob Miller, Mitchell Driscoll, and Ethan Hunt took home top honors (1:39.31) and the distance medley relay team of Cade Pouren, Luke Turner, Hunt, and Justin Simmering also won (3:52.85). Lincoln Kleese was second in the long jump (20’3’’) and Hennigan was second in the 110m high hurdles (16.16).

Other area teams competing included Mid-Prairie placing sixth with 63 points, WACO was seventh with 44, and Highland finished eighth with 20. The Golden Hawks 4x200m relay team of Elmir Ganibegovic, Grant Boyse, Clarke Latchem, and Aiden Rath nabbed second (1:35.23) and Micah Gugel was third in the shot put (43’1’’).  Highland’s 4x200m relay team of Connor Grinstead, Kadin Jepson, Mason McFarland and Trey Lasek finished third (1:39.64) and WACO’s Colton Horak was second in the 400M hurdles (58.75).

The Demon girls’ placed fourth out of nine teams with 66 points while Iowa City Liberty claimed first place with 177. Isabel Bailey took care of business in the sprints placing second in the 200m dash with a time of 29.02 and third in the 100m dash in 13.45 seconds. Ashley Telleen crossed the finish line in third in the 400m hurdles (1:16.20) and Leah Marek was fourth in both the 400m (1:07.93) and the 200m (29.31).

Highland nabbed sixth place with 50 points and WACO was ninth with 35. The Huskies owned the long jump with Emily Yahnke winning in a leap of 16’1’’ and Aly Stokes was second with 15’3’’. The Warriors’ Morgan Graber was fourth in the high jump (4’4’’).
