Kalona residents may see higher water and sewer rates this year. At the recent city council meeting, City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh mentioned the possible rate increase. If implemented, the monthly flat fee would increase by 3%, or roughly a $.71 increase per month. This would bring in an additional $10,000 in revenue for the city. The last time rates were increased was 2016 when the city approved a 3.5% jump.
