The Mid-Prairie boys soccer team is at home for the first time on the young season Tuesday when they welcome their rival, and No. 1 ranked Iowa City Regina to Wellman for a River Valley Conference match.
The Golden Hawks enter tonight with an overall record of 1-1. Last time out they were shut out by No. 16 West Liberty 3-0. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Aaron Slaubaugh with a pair of goals, Nathan Cadena leads the team with two assists and Keaton Graber has worked the first two matches in goal, stopping four of the seven shots he has seen.
Regina enters with an overall record of 1-1. They have fallen to Ankeny Centennial 4-1 and then rebounded to beat Monticello 6-0 in conference play. Trent Gerard had a hat trick in the win over the Panthers. Gerard and Alec Wick are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece. Wick leads the Regals with two assists. Josh Dutchik has spent both games in goal for Regina, stopping 20 of the 24 shots he has faced.
These teams have not met since 2016, when Regina scored a 7-0 win. Action begins tonight at 6p.m. in Wellman.
