A man choked and passed out behind the wheel of a truck, causing a wreck on Highway 1. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:40 a.m. Saturday the GMC Sierra was southbound on Highway 1 when it wrecked about six miles south of Washington. Jerry Ford of Letts was driving when he lost consciousness and the truck went onto the shoulder and into the ditch, hitting a culvert. Three people were able to get out of the vehicle and there were injuries. There was no medical transport. Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Iowa State Patrol, Washington Fire and Rescue, Washington County Ambulance, Brighton Fire, and Brighton QRS assisted at the scene.
