The Sigourney track teams put together a solid showing in their home meet Tuesday night with a lot of KCII area schools participating.

The Savage girls’ had a runner-up finish with 96 points while Pekin claimed the title with 155. Other area schools included Highland in third with 90 points, Winfield-Mt. Union sixth with 39, WACO eighth with 27, and Keota with two athletes competing had two points. In her final tune-up before the Drake Relays on Thursday, Summer Barthelman did not disappoint winning the long jump (17’0’’), 400m hurdles (1:06.68), 400m dash (1:00.59), and being the anchor of the victorious shuttle hurdle relay team (1:10.55). Her 400m and 400m hurdle times were new meet records. Other top finishes included Kaylee Weber second in the shot put (33’8’’) and Sloane Magill second in the 100m hurdles (17.19). Highland’s Emily Yahnke bested the field in the 100m dash (13.43) and Aly Stokes took the title in the 200m (27.84). The 4x100m and 4x200m relay also won for the Huskies. WMU’s Anna Husdon placed first in the shot put (37’6.5’’), WACO’s Grace Conwell was second in the 400m hurdles (1:14.20), and Keota’s Paige Thompson nabbed fifth in the 3000m run (13:14.89).

On the boys’ side Sigourney finished third in the team standings with 69 points and Pekin seized the win with 148. Other scores included WMU in fourth with 63, WACO fifth with 60, Keota eighth with 36, and Highland ninth with 29 points. Sigourney’s Payton Schauf showed off his strength placing first in the shot put (44’5’’) and discus (150’5’’) while Spencer Magill was the champion in the high jump (6’4’’). Brandon Snowden for WMU had a big night winning the 100m (11.42), 200m (23.17), and being a part of the 4x200m relay (1:35.69). WACO’s Colton Horak was first in the 110m hurdles (16.38) and 400m hurdles (57.79). Keota’s distance medley finished first (3:49.46) and Highland’s Bradley Rodgers was second in the shot put (43’4’’) along with Zack Lasek second in the discus (117’10).
