The 110th annual Drake Relays is in the rearview and one KCII area athlete was waving the white victory flag on Saturday.

Mid-Prairie’s Marie Hostetler claimed her first Drake Relays championship when she won the 1500m with a time of 4:38.14. The junior was able to hold off Bishop Heelan’s Amber Aesoph who clocked in with 4:42.45. Hostetler placed second at the Blue Oval earlier in the week in the 3000m.

The 4x100m relay was a busy one for Southeast Iowa schools on Saturday with the Washington boys placing 50th (45.06), Mid-Prairie placing 55th (45.20), and Winfield-Mt. Union did not finish the race. The Washington girls also competed in that relay and finished 54th (52.21) out of 96 teams. Other individuals competing included Sigourney’s Summer Barthelman finishing 3rd in the girls 400m hurdles (1:05.57) and Washington’s Ethan Hunt 12th (56.10) in the boys 400m hurdles.
