Kalona is moving forward with a project that will replace a problematic water line. The Kalona City Council was notified of a water main between 6th Street and H Avenue that has continued to cause problems for the city. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh admitted to the council that if they were starting from scratch, they would do things differently regarding the location of the water line. With that said, he recommended to replace the line as soon as they can. He estimates that the project will cost between $70,000 and $75,000. The council agreed to move forward and the city will begin to prepare bid documents.
