A Division I rating was awarded to a Washington band at the SEIBA Large Group contest. The Washington Middle School seventh and eighth grade band earned the high rating at Clear Creek Amana. Out of a possible 35, the judges scored the Demons at 33, 33, and 32. It’s the 10th year in a row that the band has received a Division I or I+ rating at SEIBA Large Group.
Prior to the contest, Director Craig McClenahan challenged the band to have a judge compliment them on dynamics. The prize if they achieved it would be a pizza party. After the band performed, the judges did a clinic with the students and within the first two minutes one clinician complimented the group’s dynamic contrasts. The students celebrated.
The band’s next performance will be in the Pella Tulip Time Parade this Friday.
