Actress and stuntwoman Sandra Gimpel will headline the entertainment at this year’s Trek Fest. Gimpel appeared in Star Trek as a salt monster and Talosian. Riverside’s Trek Fest will also feature performances from local entertainers like the Cedar Rapids band Crazy Delicious, Iowa City American Idol contestant Abbie Callahan, and the Washington Community band. Trek Fest Director Andy Rodgers says there’s a lot of hard work that goes into putting the event together, but it’s worth it to see it come together, “When the day’s finally here and everything’s going, no matter good, bad, or other, it’s just a joy all the way around to watch how the product ends up.” The festival will also feature inflatables, a demolition derby, costume contests, and more. All the events inside the park, except the demolition derby, are free. Trek Fest is June 28th and 29th at Hall Park in Riverside.
