The Mid-Prairie girls soccer team made it back-to-back wins with a non-conference victory at Columbus Friday.

The Golden Hawks edged the Wildcats 3-2 in penalty kicks. The Wildcats got a pair of goals on the Lizbeth Paz to Vanessa Mena connection to take a 2-0 lead into the half. In the second half, the Hawks got things working when Kaitlyn Martin knocked home a penalty kick in the 52nd minute to cut the lead in half. In the 54th minute the Hawks tied it when Esther Hughes made a great run and dished to Libby Baker who blasted a shot into the net. Things stayed even through the end of regulation and a pair of overtime frames. In the penalty kick shoot out Emily Swartzentruber knocked away the first Wildcat shot while Baker sent home the first for Mid-Prairie. The second attempt from the Wildcats was not on frame while Leah Bontrager drove hers home to give the Hawks a 2-0 advantage. In round three Aaliyah Santos made hers for Columbus and Evelyn Gerber matched it for the Golden Hawks. The fourth shot from Columbus was no good, giving Mid-Prairie the win. The Hawks are now 5-3 on the season.
