Staff members of the Mid-Prairie Home School Assistance Program will be seeing a rise in wages and hours next year. Over the last three weeks Superintendent Mark Schneider, Business Manager Jeff Swartzentruber and HSAP Program Director Rachel Kerns have been working on updating the incentive package. The school board approved a 3.06% compensation increase, which is consistent with the package they approved for district teachers and administrators last month. What makes this HSAP package different is the projected increase in hours, according to Schneider. As the number of families served by the HSAP grows, so does the time staff spends working. Factoring in a 20% surge in hours, the total wage increase is 14.38%.
Going into the 2018-2019 school year the program saw a 40 student increase, according to Schneider. The HSAP currently serves approximately 400 students from the area. The school board approved the compensation package unanimously.
