Schlabaugh, Slabaugh and Smit. Super, scintillating, and sensational. All accurate S words to describe the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks showing at the 2019 River Valley Conference boys golf championship meet at Blue Top Ridge in Riverside. The Golden Hawks finished second overall in the team race with a score of 342. West Branch won the team title with a 324. Mid-Prairie was led by individual conference runner-up Noah Schlabaugh with his five-over-par round of 77. He was an elite all-conference performer and talked about his round after the day concluded. “I ended the front nine with three pars, so I just kept that rolling into the second nine. The toughest hole was 16, I hit three wood three times on that hole. I was within 10 feet and two putted for par. I’m proud of the way I played today. The past few meets I haven’t been where I wanted to be. Shooting a 77 today and coming into Friday with a good feeling is nice.”
Monte Slabaugh was an all-conference selection with his score of 84 and Ryan Smit was named honorable mention RVC with a round of 90.
Other scores for the Hawks included Chaz Patterson 91, Dominic McCain 93 and Kayden Reinier 94. The Golden Hawks will next be in action Friday when they travel to Williamsburg for the sectional meet.
