This summer’s Washington County Fair Horse and Pony Show will showcase a new category.

The Alumni Showmanship Halter Class will be held Tuesday, July 16th, following the 4-H show halter classes. Each participant will be paired with a 4-H/FFA member and their horse to show. Alumni showmen are invited but not required to attend a pre-fair horse workout to meet their partner and horse. The program serves as a way to support the horse and pony project while spanning different generations of 4-H’ers. This opportunity will also honor Gale Whitacre, a 40-year volunteer horse and pony leader for Washington County 4-H who retired last fall. Preregistration is required by calling the Extension Office.
