The Inaugural Jimmy Dick Memorial Crappiethon will send anglers to the waters of Lake Darling this weekend. The tournament is named for former Friends of Lake Darling Board President Jim Dickinson. This week Don Kline, with Friends of Lake Darling, spoke about Dickinson and the event. “Jim was a big booster of Lake Darling. He and his wife Karen owned the ‘Campers Corner’ there where you used to be able to get supplies. He was President of the Friends Group. Jimmy passed away last year. Somebody talked about ‘maybe we should start a Crappiethon’ and Jimmy would have really liked that. A lot of the events like this you go to have more expert fishermen. We would like to have some families, a family event would be ideal.”

The tournament will be held Sunday, May 12th from 7a.m. Until noon with registration from 6-7a.m. At the Lake Darling Boat House. There will be prizes awarded. Registration is $10 per person. All fish must be caught by rod and everyone participating must have a valid Iowa fishing license and follow all Iowa fishing and safety regulations. A full description of the event is available on the Friends of Lake Darling website.
