At the most recent meeting of the Washington School Board they discussed operational sharing of positions for the 2020 fiscal year. Under the current agreement the Washington district shares a transportation and maintenance director with the WACO School District. This position is currently held by Woody Harden. Washington School Board President Eric Turner tells KCII news how this has served the district. “This is a sharing agreement with WACO Community Schools. We’ve been sharing Transportation/Maintenance Director. It’s worked out well for both districts, and there is some benefit financially so the districts have decided to continue that agreement for another year.”

By sharing the districts each save money from the state through supplemental weighting. This is roughly the equivalent of five enrolled students or a $34,000 incentive.
