The brand new track at Sigourney High School will be put to good use tonight, as the Savages host a class 1A state-qualifying meet.
The Savages will welcome area schools of Keota, WACO, and Winfield-Mt. Union for the co-ed meet. Head Coach of the Keota boys Larry Lyle is exciting for the competition and heading just down the road to Sigourney. “They do a great job of hosting a meet in just their second year at the new track. Everybody feels that they have a loaded district but we really do. Defending class 2A champs Pekin dropped down to 1A and they will be there. Lynnville-Sully could be a favorite for a state championship and they will be there. It will be a tough night of track.”
The chance to punch a ticket to state gets underway at 4 p.m. this evening in Sigourney.
