Three KCII area boys and girls track and field teams were in action Friday at Central City for the class 1A state qualifier meet. In attendance were Highland, Lone Tree and Iowa Mennonite School. Athletes and events automatically qualify for the state meet in Des Moines in class 1A by winning their event at a state qualifying site. Area athletes and events that punched their ticket include:
For Highland, Trey Lasek will be in Des Moines after winning the 400m dash in 51.18 seconds. He will for sure be joined there by the Highland girls 4×100 team who was a winner Friday in 52.11 seconds with a team of Sarah Schneider, Aly Stokes, Kristy Thomann and Emily Yahnke. Yahnke will also make her way to Des Moines as an individual winning the long jump by clearing 17’2.25”.
Lone Tree had one automatic qualifier with Holley Johnson taking the 400 hurdles in 1:09.88.
A complete list of state qualifiers including automatic and performance qualifiers will be made available by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union this weekend.
