The Kewash Nature Trail is one step away from being deemed complete. Washington County Conservation Board Director Zach Rozmus informed the board during Thursday’s meeting that all they are waiting for is the grass to come in to officially put the Kewash Trail project in the rearview mirror. Rozmus says that the grass needs to reach 70% vegetation to be ruled stable enough to close the project. MSA Services, the engineering firm hired by the WCCB, will ultimately rule when the vegetation is complete, with the DNR having a say. Rozmus added that he is excited to put this project behind him, “I think I speak for DeLong, Conservation, and MSA, I think everyone’s ready to put this one to rest. You know, be done with the project and move on to the next one.” Board President Craig Capps added that he’s seen a lot of progress with the grass over the last week due to the rain.
