It’s a KCII area boys soccer showdown in Kalona Monday when the Washington Demons visit Iowa Mennonite School.
The Demons enter the match with an overall mark of 2-9 on the season after a 3-0 loss to Mount Pleasant on Thursday. On the year, Washington is led by Caleb Suchan with a pair of goals, Pascual Mendoza has the team lead with two assists and in goal, Ben Baughman leads the Southeast Conference with 110 saves and an 80% save percentage.
IMS comes into the match with an 8-4 overall record, ranked No. 8 in the state in class 1A, according to the latest poll from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association. They were beaten by Danville Friday night in the first round of the Southeast Iowa Superconference tournament 3-2. On the year, IMS is led by Louis Ettiene with a conference best 20 goals, Jacob Boller paces IMS with six assists and in goal, Blake Bontrager has made 57 saves.
These two teams met a season ago with IMS taking a 4-1 road win. Action begins tonight at 4:30 in Kalona.
