Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course has been kind to the Columbus Community girls’ program this past week. On the flip side, the Wildcats have been kind to the course that Fort Madison calls home. Either way, the Wildcats have made two trips to the same location and have come away with two titles. Last week they deemed themselves Southeast Iowa Super Conference Champs and on Monday they had the same result in the first round of a class 1A regional.

The Wildcats shot a 424 in the 18-hole meet to best New London’s 427. Aubrey Duncan and Kayla Beenen both advanced individually to the regional final with their 91 and 101 scores to place second and fifth, respectively. Jobie Lekwa shot a 112 for the Wildcats and Gracie Morrison had 120. Highland missed advancing by six strokes shooting a 433 but Charlie Aicher saw her season continue with a third place finish of 98. Sabrina Moody for Winfield-Mt. Union cracked the top six to advance placing fourth with 100. WMU was fourth as a team with 507. Lone Tree was also competing placing sixth with 558 and they were led by Abby Buckman’s 120. Keota did not have a team score but Frankie Johnson shot a 127. Kennedy Roth was the lone IMS player competing and she finished with 129.

Columbus, Aicher, and Moody all will compete at the final round of regionals Monday in Brooklyn.
