The Washington County Riverboat Foundation awarded over $1.4 million Wednesday night at their spring grant ceremony. Representation from various non-profit organizations and local governments from across Washington County filled the event center at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort. The WCRF awarded 9 municipal grants for $811,400 to area cities for improvement projects.There were a total of 73 grant applications submitted this spring. Of those 73, 13 received awards as the WCRF awarded another $628,723 in competitive grants.

The largest competitive award was a two year grant for a new fire station for the Ainsworth Fire Department. Since 2006 the WCRF has awarded 1,362 grants totaling $45,581,855 to benefit area schools, government entities, and non-profit organizations.
