A Universe of Stories will be explored at the Washington Public Library during their summer reading programs for all ages. From preschool up to adults, the library has reading goals and events for everyone in your family. Librarian Jenisa Harris says it is important to keep children reading even when school is out of session, “It’s really important to keep your kiddos reading over the summer. They actually lose up to two reading levels over a short amount of time in the summer. So summer reading is a great way to keep them reading, involved, and it’s fun and free, and it’s building those healthy habits to last a lifetime.”

Free family events include a star lab for kindergarten through high school students on June 14th. Musician Chad Elliot will play June 18th, ventriloquist Ron Erdmann will perform June 25th, and the Blank Park Zoo will bring some animals for observation on July 9th. Register for summer reading by May 31st at the Washington Public Library to blast off into a Universe of Stories.
