A candidate seeking the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential election will be speaking in Jefferson County later today. California Congressman Eric Swalwell will be holding a town hall meeting to speak about his ideas regarding gun violence. This will be Swalwell’s fourth stop in Iowa since announcing his candidacy in April. At the event Swalwell will discuss Kasky, who was a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida at the time of a shooting that killed 17 students and wounded another 17 last year. Since then, Kasky formed the the student-led advocacy group Never Again MSD. Kasky also helped organize the March for Our Lives student protest in March 2018 to bring awareness to gun violence. The town hall will be held in the Cambridge Building of the Jefferson County Fairgrounds at 5:30 p.m. today.
