Opening Day. The two words any baseball fan loves to hear. Today is that day for Washington baseball fans, as the Demons face off with Anamosa tonight for the season opener.

The Demons are coming off a 21-12 season a year ago and are receiving votes in the first Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association class 3A poll. Head Coach of the Demons Nathan Miller highlights what he wants to see from his guys in the first game of the year. “Poise and playing with confidence. We know our guys are going to be amped up a little bit and it’s about settling in while playing with confidence. We have to keep freebies off the base by making routine plays and throwing strikes.”

The doubleheader was supposed to be in Washington but due to field conditions it will now be in Anamosa starting at 5:30 p.m. Listen to the game starting at 5 p.m. on FM 106.1 KCII. All summer long KCII will be the home of Demon baseball and softball games.
