The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls track and field team defended their 2018 state championship by bringing their second straight title home from the blue oval in Des Moines Saturday. The Hawks took the hardware over second place Applington-Parkersburg by a 49-39 score. The Golden Hawks capped their sprint to a state title with a big Saturday. They put a pair in the 1500 with Marie Hostetler winning her third event title in a time of 4:40.63 and Angelina Evans taking 18th in the event. In the 800 Mid-Prairie also had two runners with Hostetler finishing second and Mitzi Evans 21st. The sprint medley with a team of Maddie Edgington, Cassidy Rourke, Mitzi Evans and Amber Swart in a time of 1:51.65. Tori Boyse was 18th in the discus with a throw of 106’7″. This is the second girls state track championship in program history.
