Southeast Iowa and area libraries will continue to be represented on the State Library Commision. Sarah Latcham of Wellman was reappointed by Governor Kim Reynolds to serve on the State Library Commission. Latcham describes what she does as a commissioner, “Just like how local public libraries, like the Washington Public Library or Wellman-Scofield Public Library, have a board of trustees the state library also has a board. We’re called commissioners and it serves the same purpose. So we review the state director each year, we approve the budget, and we OK the strategic planning and the goals for the next year.” Latcham is also a teacher-librarian for th e Iowa City Community School District and serves on the board of directors for the Wellman-Scofield Public Library. She began serving on the commission in 2015 and was reappointed for her second consecutive term that runs through 2023.
