Stop me if you’ve heard this before, ‘The Washington girls’ golf team is headed to state.’ The Demons will have a chance to nab another state title next week after placing first at a regional final yesterday in DeWitt.

Washington bested the 12-team field by shooting a 371 in the 18-hole meet. Central DeWitt finished second at Springbrook Country Club with 377. Kiki Guo added another meet-medalist to her season shooting a 78 including 37 in the front nine. Josie Tanner tallied an 86, Macie Driscoll finished with 100, and Emily Waite rounded out the scoring with 107. Head Coach Len Kull never takes qualifying for state for granted. “It is certainly a goal of ours every season. The girls have high expectations and we really enjoy the tournament. We are very pleased we were able to pull that off and the girls did a great job.”

Washington gears up for the class 3A state meet May 28th and 29th in Ankeny.
