Construction for a new trailhead along the Kewash Nature Trail is underway.
The trailhead will feature a gazebo that will be along the trail near the Kirkwood Community College Washington Regional Center. Earlier this spring, the Washington County Conservation Board awarded a $109,046 bid to DeLong Construction. The bid came in higher than the original estimate of about $80,000 due to elevated concrete costs. WCCB Director Zach Rozmus says work is getting done quickly, “If you blink, you’re going to miss it. It’s happening really quick, it started [May 10th] they had the grading done within two days. It’s going to happen quick because they know they have a tight timeline.” The goal is to have the project completed by June 1st to avoid the possibility of having this project seep into the next fiscal year.
