An inmate at the Washington County Jail faces additional charges after being involved in another fight at the jail. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday Washington County Sheriff’s deputies and Washington Police officers responded to a fight at the jail. There were six units who responded. Involved in the fight was 27-year-old Deng Michael Akuar of Des Moines. He was charged with criminal mischief in the fifth degree, assault on persons in certain occupations, and assaults on persons in certain occupations causing bodily injury.

Akuar was also involved in a fight with another inmate Saturday night and was charged with disorderly conduct.

Akuar faces multiple charges following an incident on April 29th in Polk County when he was charged with two counts of harassment in the first degree, driving while barred, operating while under the influence, harassment of a public official or employee, and interference with official acts. Arraignment is scheduled for June 5th.
