The Mid-Prairie baseball team opened the season with a statement Monday, pounding class 3A Keokuk by a 13-0 score in just five innings.
Things were scoreless until the third when Mid-Prairie pushed across one run, they would score twice in the fourth before blowing the game open with a 10 run fifth inning against the Chiefs. That was more than enough for Brad Tornow who went the distance on the mound compiling 11 strikeouts in the two hit shut out. At the plate, Cale Robertson and Tornow each had three hits, Robertson drove in three on the night. Mid-Prairie is now 1-0 on the year as they get read for a conference doubleheader with West Liberty Thursday.
