In what was supposed to be a two-day tournament, the class 1A state golf meet in Newton was called due to rain after one day of competition and Sigourney finished sixth as a team.

The Savages shot a 357 to land them in sixth out of eight teams while Harris-Lake Park claimed the team crown with 322. Dustin Haines paced the Savages shooting an 84 to put him in a tie for 18th and Cole Weber was right behind with 85 tied for 20th. Other Savage scoring included Nick Goad 93, Josh Mohr 95, Ian Terfehn 96, and Brett Striegel 102. Winfield-Mt. Union ‘s Jarod Kadel tied for 24th individually with an 87.

All three classes had to cancel Friday’s action due to poor course conditions.
