The bats were alive and well for the Columbus Community softball team on opening night of the season, as they belted out 17 hits in an 11-6 victory over Mediapolis on Thursday night.

All nine Wildcat batters reached safely in the win led by a 4-for-5 performance from Grace Conwell that also included four runs, two RBI, and two stolen bases. Jobie Lekwa added three hits and three RBI. Emma Milder picked up the win in the circle throwing all seven innings giving up just two earned runs and three walks.

The Wildcats are supposed to travel to Louisa-Muscatine today for a tournament.
