Its De Ja Vu all over again for the No. 16 ranked Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team Satuday. IMS has the task of traveling to No. 7 Solon to play the Spartans on their turf with a bid to the class 1A state tournament on the line. IMS comes in with a record of 11-4 after a 1-0 win over Clarke of Osceola in the substate semifinals. On the season, IMS is led by Louis Etienne with 25 goals, eighth most in class 1A. Jacob Boller leads IMS with eight assists. In goal, Blake Bontrager has made 70 saves with an 83% save percentage.
Solon comes into the match ranked No. 7 in the final poll from the Iowa Soccer Coaches Association. The Spartans are 15-6 on the year and beat Pella Christian 4-0 to advance through the substate semifinals. On the year the Spartans are led by Jorel Justus with 18 goals. He also paces the team with nine assists. In goal Ian Johnson has 56 saves and a 79% save percentage. These two teams met in the 2018 substate final with IMS rolling to a 3-0 victory.
