Washington High School held their annual Senior Awards last week and the athletes of the year were announced.
For the female athlete of the year Isabel Bailey was represented and the males had two with Cade Hennigan and Tristin Westphal-Edwards. Bailey led the volleyball team in kills this year with 157, led the basketball team in points with eight a night, and she was a standout on the track team including receiving a medal at the state meet in the long jump. Westphal-Edwards made headlines sweeping his competition on the wrestling mat en route to a state title but he also was second on the football team in tackles with 51 and tallied 383 yards from scrimmage. Hennigan was a four-sport athlete reaching the end zone nine times in football, leading scorer in basketball with 10.7 points a game, competed at the state track and field meet, and was crowned Southeast Conference baseball player of the year in 2018.
The trio graduated from Washington on Sunday.
