While the Washington girls’ golf team participating at the state meet is a familiar sight, the Demons will head to an unfamiliar course for the class 3A meet that starts today.
Washington travels to Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny for the state meet, a location they have not been to since the early 2000s. The team qualified for the event after a first place finish at regionals in DeWitt last week. The Demons shot a 371 led by meet medalist Kiki Guo and her 78 score. The team’s 366 season average for 18-holes ranks fifth in the state. Columbus Community’s Aubrey Duncan will compete in the class 1A meet in Marshalltown and she qualified after winning the regional in Lynnville with an 86 score. The senior paced the Wildcats on the year with a 96 average.
Day one of two for both locations is set for 9 a.m. this morning.
