The Washington Summer Classic is officially underway. Join the KCII Big Red Radio in downtown Washington for the four-day event. KCII general manager Joe Nichols explains the Summer Classic is part of KCII’s Summer Town Tour, “I’ve enjoyed doing the Summer Town Tours because, although there’s a lot of similarities every town is unique in what they do. So there’s always good fun, and there’s parades, and things for the entire family to enjoy. From usually the start of the day, a lot of them start with runs in the morning and finish with music and entertainment in the evenings, and all day long just a bunch of entertainment. So every one of them is different, like I said a lot of similarities, but they’re all unique. And that’s what makes it so much fun and why we wanted to do the Summer Town Tour to begin with.”

Friday is Family Day and will include a Movie on Main on the Central Park bandstand. The state’s longest running Ridiculous Day will be observed Saturday, complete with plastic ducks in the fountain being tossed out by the rescue dive squad. A concert will be held at the airport Saturday night, followed by the fly-in breakfast Sunday morning. And it will all wrap up Sunday afternoon with the Latino Festival in Central Park.
