columbus-logo3-4

The Columbus girls’ soccer team tries to take one step closer to the state tournament tonight when they face Davenport Assumption in a class 1A regional semifinal game.

The Wildcats took care of business Tuesday night in their first round game dismantling Wapello 7-0 headlined by a five-goal performance from Vanessa Mena. Scoring will be hard to come by against the Knights, as they have given up just five goals all season en route to a 15-1 record. These two teams met on May 10thand Davenport Assumption controlled the entire contest to win 10-0. Carly King has been a scoring machine with 33 goals that ranks second in the state.

The action gets underway at 6 p.m. this evening at Davenport Assumption High School.
