The No. 16 ranked Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team is in Des Moines Friday for the opening round of the 2019 class 1A state soccer tournament. IMS advanced to state by beating No. 7 Solon at Spartan Stadium Saturday by a 1-0 score on a goal from Jacob Boller. They have an overall record of 12-4. On the season, IMS is led by Louis Etienne with 25 goals, ninth most in class 1A. Boller is best on the team with eight assists. In goal, Blake Bontrager has made 75 saves with an 84% save percentage. He has not allowed a goal in the playoffs.

Sioux Center comes into the game with an overall record of 13-4. The Warriors advanced to state by beating Western Christian of Hull 2-1 on goals from Freddy Bullock and Jesus Granillo. Granillo leads the Warriors with 10 goals on the season. He’s also best on the team with nine assists. In goal the Warriors are led by Zeke Foltz with 88 saves and an 80% save percentage. The winner of this match advances to Saturday’s semifinal against the winner of Waterloo Columbus and Center Point Urbana.
