A plea hearing has been set for a Fairfield police officer accused of burglary.
In February, 31-year-old Ryan Mills was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree, a class C felony. Mills originally pleaded not-guilty in March. Instead of proceeding to the jury trial that was scheduled to begin June 4th, proceedings will advance to a plea hearing on June 21st.
According to the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations, Mills is accused of stealing narcotics from a veterinary clinic in Fairfield. The case was transferred to Washington County to ensure there are no conflicts.
