Road construction is coming to Washington County as part of the Iowa Transportation Improvement Program.
The program helps advances in the investment of funding to improve state roads and bridges. The area that will be worked on as part of the program is 2.8 miles wide from Highway 92 east of U.S. 218 to Iowa 70 in Columbus Junction. The type of work that will be done include culvert replacement, erosion control, grade and pave, mitigation, right of way, and traffic signs. The highway section of the program contains the primary and interstate highway construction-related investments planned for fiscal year 2020 through 2024.
These advances that will get started in 2020 are possible due to additional revenue signed into law on February 25, 2015.
