Kalona city officials are looking to shine a light on the impact some of their residents have on the community.

Nominations are now being accepted to honor any individuals or businesses who are working to make Kalona a better place. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says it’s important to recognize those who are putting forth effort to make Kalona shine, “It’s important for a couple of different reasons. One, it does pay respects to those individuals that have committed time and effort, and sometimes even resources. It’s not always resources, just having a positive outlook conveying that volunteer work. Secondly, it also allows others to see the positive impact an individual can have on a community of 2,500 plus people.”

Nominations will not be accepted past June 7th. During Kalona Days on June 15th, the Community Award Winners will be honored by the city. For more information on how to nominate an individual or business, visit the Kalona City website.
