After 34 years of service to the Washington Police Department, Chief Greg Goodman has retired. His last radio sign off to dispatch was Friday, “Washington 101: 10-7.” To which dispatch responded saying, “101, 10-7. It is our pleasure to acknowledge your final radio transmission today May 31st, 2019, at 14:55 hours. This brings the close of 34-year career for Police Chief Greg Goodman badge number 101 with the Washington Police Department. As you begin your retirement, your public safety family and the City of Washington, want to thank you for your dedication and service. This is not the end, but a new beginning, and we wish you the very best. 101 is 10-42.”

The new police chief if Jim Lester. He comes to Washington from Wright County, where he was a sheriff’s deputy and emergency management coordinator.
