
Latino Festival was the final celebration of Washington’s four-day Summer Classic. The KCII Big Red Radio took part in the festivities with Thursday’s Ag Day, Friday’s Family Day, Ridiculous Day on Saturday, and the Lation Festival Sunday. Washington Chamber of Commerce Event Coordinator Alisha Davis said the weather was beautiful each day and attendance was high. There were 68 tractors in Thursday’s Antique Tractor Parade. She said Saturday’s Flightline Live concert at the airport included eight class reunions from Washington High School, WACO and Iowa Wesleyan with live music, “Standing Hampton which is a classic 70’s and 80’s rock’n’roll. And I got to see them last year and they are amazing. The have great vocals, the lead singer was a contestant on American Idol.” Davis adds that Ridiculous Day sales were up for businesses with several retailers saying they had doubled in profit from last year.
The next stops of the KCII Summer Town Tour with the Big Red Radio will be Keota Fun Days, Kalona Day, and Brighton Whoopee Days June 14th and 15th.
