Emergency crews responded to a hog building on fire near Kalona Monday.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, just after 5 p.m., local fire and rescue crews responded to a building fire at 1475 Orange Avenue. Once crews arrived, it was reported that there was another shed that was on fire in the same area. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in both structures. There were no pigs inside the hog shed. Kalona Fire and Rescue, Washington Fire, Kalona Ambulance, and Riverside Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
